“Surely resentment destroys the fool, and jealousy kills the simple.”

You have to stay away from what kills. The most dire of these dangers is comparison. When your focus shifts to resenting others jealousy can consume you. It will kill momentum and kill relationships. It can even kill you. In desperation, I have seen people compare their current circumstances to others, conclude they have nothing left, and then act on that conclusion. Suicide sits at the top of the list as the most radical result of comparison. You must ask God to take the comparison of others away and replace it with confidence and
assurance in Him.
Whenever comparison has a hold on you and ending your life seems like the only solution:
1. Take five minutes more.
2. Shift your sight off of where you are and onto Jesus, who treasures you as you are.
Immediately remove yourself from what is readily available to harm you, whether it may be an individual, situation, weapons of any kind (including guns or knives), or any unnecessary medications within your easy
access. Remove these from your environment, and, with God, go somewhere without easy access to things that can physically or emotionally destroy you.
