God instructs me to cast all my worries on Him, so why don’t I? Worry manifests in an accelerated heart rate, lack of clarity, and deprived sleep. Isolation and loneliness emerge, and as Satan schemes, he can create a divide between myself and Christ. Jesus is not soft when he instructs me to give my worry to Him. It’s not a “best practices” recommendation to live a better life. He tells me this as a command to stay loyal to Him and fend off Satan. There’s definitive clarity in this demand with no room for interpretation. “Do not worry,” “Be not anxious,” and “Do not be troubled” only translate one way: “Don’t do it.” Worrying is almost like praying for what you don’t want! It’s Satan manipulating our thoughts so that we give attention to the conclusion we want to avoid. Simplistically, it’s like the golfer ready to tee off over the water hazard, repeating in their mind, “No water, no water, no water,” only to watch their ball splash down a few yards away. Instead of dwelling on the negative, take action. Deliberately, intentionally, and frequently give your worry to God.
